Just a cup of these berries can give you four to five ounces of puree. Though there is a debate when to exactly give blueberries to the baby, Dr. Shreffler on Managing Food Allergy and Intolerance said that blueberries are safe and can be served as early as 7 + months. But to be on the safe side, ask your pediatrician first for your baby to be tested with allergens.
Ingredient Selection Tips:
- Select blueberries that are colored dark and are firm. If it is not yet ripe, it can stay up to three weeks by storing it in a Ziplock.
- Since its skin is raw and for those raised in plantations, it can pick up huge residue of pesticides. Considered as one of the “Dirty Dozen” fruits because of high residue content, we would prefer to have it organic.
