This is one of the classic favorites for our 6-month old and older babies. Chicken and the fats (take the chicken skin out!) contains proteins and Vitamin B complex needed for your baby’s growth. Sweet potato, of course, has the necessary proteins and carbs needed by the body.
Chicken meal is a popular choice and it can be mixed with several meals from barbecue to soup. It can be eaten by children and adult across ages. It is a staple in many different culinary traditions.
For just one full serving, you will just need a medium-sized sweet potato (200 g), chicken breast (150g; skinless and chopped).
You can easily freeze this lovely meal too.
- Choose sweet potatoes that are small or medium-sized because it is tastier. Select the one with unbruised skin. Avoid the one with growing “beard” as it indicates it is already mature and tough flesh.
- Chicken is recommended among other meats to be introduced to the baby as it is easily digested and helps in maintaining zinc and protein. You can choose the parts you want for more protein and with lower fats. If you want higher iron and protein content, then choose the “darker” meat such as the thigh and leg.
- We encourage organic choice for chicken and sweet potato. There are now selection of free-range and organically grown chicken.
